Hi everyone!

Shipping for International Backers of Rappan Athuk and Tome of Horrors

This is Zach from Frog God Games with news for our loyal customers from outside the United States. Many of you are pledging for international shipments from both recent projects and we are grateful for your support. We know (all to well) the cost of shipping books overseas and are in a position to combine the shipping on these books and reduce total costs for Kickstarter backers that meet the following criteria:

This applies to you if all of the following apply-

• You are receiving at least one hardcover Tome of Horrors book in your pledge reward (Regular or Leather Edition)
• You backed the Rappan Athuk Kickstarter and are going to receive a Hardcover Book (Regular or Leather).
• You reside outside of the United States

What you need to do is complete the Backerkit checkout for Rappan Athuk as soon as convenient with all your add-ons. This will give you a total INCLUDING the calculated shipping cost. Your CARD WILL NOT BE CHARGED at during initial checkout. After we determine the actual numbers package set-up your balance will be reduced. 

If you have any questions about this let me know, but the sooner we get the pledge reward information the faster we can make the adjustments.

The main Tome of Horrors book is now at the printer and on track for on-time delivery and the PDF copy of the same will be available very soon.

If you are a backer for the Tome of Horrors Kickstarter AND are getting or considering a physical book for Rappan Athuk his applies to you...  

After much deliberation Bill, Krista and I have come up with a workable solution to get your Tome of Horrors pledge rewards and the Rappan Athuk rewards in the same shipment. This involves some verification work on our end BUT only if you choose the "ship them together" option that will be presented to you during Backerkit. We do not know for certain what the shipping will be yet but using this method we will be able to charge you the actual shipping on one package (as opposed to two). This will be a significant savings BUT it will happen as a refund at the time of shipment. There is no way for us to apply the discount early.  

So if you were on the fence about getting a physical book and you were a Tome of Horrors backer we have you covered. This will be explained in much more detail before the Backerkit launches in a few weeks.  

Basically if you pick up Rappan Athuk for Fifth Edition we will be able to ship together.

Postage issues

I just shipped almost 1500 books for Kobold. Believe me, we have investigated every possible outlet for lowering overseas shipping. Heck, Zach has even set up a POD service (though the books are glued, not sewn) to help defray this. Shipping rates are going up it seems every month. We only charge what it costs plus $1.50 (boxes, tape, bubble wrap and child slave lavbor (I have 6 teenagers who work for us), and nothing for my and Krista's time. In 2011, I was able to ship anywhere in the world with a large flat rate for about $45; now its more like $90. They also have "zoned" areas--so now Australia etc. costs more than say, Mexico. Below are the (sorry, unformatted) prices by "zone" for medium and large flat rates (its usually cheaper to send non-flat rate). Price Groups 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Medium Flat Rate Boxes (Max. Wt. 20 lbs.) 66.00 67.20 65.55 69.10 75.00 68.15 71.00 Large Flat Rate Boxes (Max. Wt. 20 lbs.) 85.95 87.85 85.95 89.80 94.75 88.85 92.85 Not positive which zone is which--Krista likely knows; but backerkit automatically optimizes the postage to the lowest rate based on weight. Pretty sure we have eaten $10k in excess postage this year (a direct loss for us). A couple other folks I know grossly underestimated the postage costs that they included in their kickstarter--one lost almost $10k on one project from postage. Sadly, there is nothing we can do about it. Bill

Creature Type and CR Breakdown, More Playable Races!

"How many of each creature type will be in the book?" 

The breakdown by creature type is listed below. Keep in mind that this isn't final and these numbers will likely change as we have 24 additional creatures that are yet to be designed and the addition of 10 backer submissions that will also be included. You'll notice that there are only 2 celestials at present. I will likely add a few more for the final book but I can't make any guarantees on that - the book is already going to have at least 340 creatures and will be pushing 350-400 pages.

"How many creatures of each CR will there be in the book?

This is also listed below. At present, there are 189 that are CR 6 and below. With the additional 48 creatures that need a CR determination, I anticipate that the number of CR 6 and lower creatures will increase. As it stands now, 57% are 6 or lower and I would like to get that to at least 65%. Again, these numbers are not final and will likely be adjusted some through playtest and several editing and review passes.

"What playable races are included for passing $42k and $44k?"

The current list of playable races, which were previously announced are: boarfolk, leprechaun, ophidian, stormwarden, and tsathar. I haven't narrowed down the additional two but hope to do so sometime today. I have quite a few identified and will gladly reveal a few of those: Baccae (Fey), Bog Beast (Monstrosity), Brownie (Fey), Crabman (Monstrosity), Frost Man (Elemental), Troblin (Humanoid (goblinoid)).
